About
Zoe Scammell is an artist and educator whose work explores the relationship between humans and animals through intricate, detailed drawings. Using delicate pencil and watercolour, she draws inspiration from Victorian natural history illustration, bad taxidermy and a childhood filled with aged pets.
Zoe holds a postgraduate MA in Sequential Illustration from the University of Brighton and has extensive experience as an arts educator. She has worked with institutions including The Wallace Collection, The Saatchi Gallery, Pallant House Gallery and The National Gallery.
During maternity leave last year, she developed and led Art and Nature workshops for local community groups, funded by Sutton Steams Ahead. In partnership with her husband Mark at Quick Draw Stories, she also taught a Mindful Drawing course at Sutton Ecology Centre, supported by Arts Network Sutton. Animal Inside is Zoe's first solo exhibition and showcases a decade worth of work.
